furatain – two rivers – is based upon an iraqi poem from the 1940′s, recited here by Samir Amin. the text is eerily relevant to the present day, encouraging the children of iraq not to give in to dispair. as a companion piece, shirlashalom is a contemporary setting of the jewish peace song of the same name, recited here by Manny Waks and Rasheeda Cooper, with backing from hathira sama. |
